Required Machining Notes

Please add all machining requirements to the order notes before checkout.

  • Worm gear: state whether the center bore should be machined or left unmachined. If machining is required, provide the exact bore diameter, tolerance, keyway width and depth, hub requirements, and any tapped or locating holes.
  • Worm shaft: provide the required shaft diameter, overall length, end diameters and lengths, thread or keyway details, and state whether an axial hole or cross hole is required. For every required hole, specify the exact diameter, depth, position, tolerance and thread specification (if applicable).
  • Special requirements: include the quantity for each specification and contact BOLTTE with a drawing when critical tolerances, heat treatment, surface treatment, or other custom machining is required.

If no machining is required, write “No machining required” in the order notes. Contact BOLTTE before ordering if any dimension is uncertain.

Steel Worm Gear and Worm Shaft Sets — Module 1–5

These matched steel worm gear and worm shaft sets are for mechanical transmission projects, industrial machinery and custom equipment builds. Select an available module and tooth-count combination, then confirm the selected drawing, center distance and machining requirements for the complete assembly.

Quick Model Finder

  • Module 1: 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 70, 80 or 100 teeth.
  • Modules 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 and 4: 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 or 60 teeth.
  • Module 5: 20, 25, 30, 40 or 50 teeth.
  • Choose the complete model, then confirm the gear dimensions, worm-shaft dimensions and theoretical center distance shown in its selected drawing.

Confirm the Complete Worm-Gear Assembly

  1. Choose an available module and tooth-count combination from Quick Model Finder; the 15–100 tooth range does not apply to every module.
  2. Check gear and worm-shaft dimensions and the theoretical center distance in the selected drawing; confirm rotation direction and ratio for the assembly.
  3. Follow the full Required Machining Notes for the gear bore, tolerance, keyway, hub, holes and worm-shaft dimensions. If no machining is required, state No machining required in the order notes.
  4. Confirm shaft support, load, speed, lubrication, installation tolerances and operating environment before use. Send a drawing and contact BOLTTE before ordering if a dimension or custom requirement is uncertain.

Suitable for

  • Mechanical transmission systems
  • Industrial automation and machinery
  • Prototype and custom equipment assemblies

Before Use

Confirm the complete model, selected drawing, module, tooth count, center distance, bore and keyway machining, rotation direction, ratio, load, speed, lubrication and operating environment before installation. No lifting-safety, food-contact, medical or regulatory certification is claimed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are 15–100 teeth available for every module?

No. Module 1 lists 15–100 teeth in the specified increments. Modules 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 and 4 list 20–60 teeth in the specified increments, while module 5 lists 20, 25, 30, 40 or 50 teeth. Use Quick Model Finder and the selected model drawing.

Will the bore and worm shaft be machined automatically?

Do not assume a machining specification from the model selection alone. State whether machining is required and provide every required dimension and detail in the order notes. If none is required, write No machining required.

Can I confirm the transmission ratio from tooth count alone?

Do not assume the final ratio from the tooth-count selection alone. Confirm the ratio and rotation direction for the exact assembly using the complete model and selected drawing. Contact BOLTTE before ordering if either is uncertain.

Is the set certified for lifting or other regulated applications?

No lifting-safety, food-contact, medical or regulatory certification is claimed. Confirm the complete assembly requirements, including load, speed, lubrication and operating environment, before use.
