Threaded Pin-Tip Spring Plungers and Installation Spanners
Spring-loaded pins apply an axial contact force from a threaded body. Choose the steel or acetal tip, spring-load class, metric thread diameter and stroke required for a fixture or mechanism. The threaded body adjusts installation depth. These are pin-tip spring plungers, and their working stroke is not a manual pull-knob action.
How the component works
The projecting pin retracts against its internal spring when contacted by the mating part, then extends as the load is released. Depending on the mating design, this can provide detent or positioning contact, preload, or controlled spring pressure. Match the tip material, travel and spring force to the contacting surface. The supplied source contains product photographs and internal section drawings; it does not show a specific assembled-machine installation.
Materials and load families
- Steel-tip families: THLSW extra light, THLW light, THW heavy and THXW extra heavy. The body is SUS304-equivalent stainless steel; the pin tip is SUS440C stainless steel, specified at 55 HRC minimum.
- Resin-tip families: THLSK extra light, THLK light, THHK heavy and THXK extra heavy. They use a SUS304-equivalent body and a POM/acetal tip.
- All eight families use a SUS631 spring. The source temperature reference is -30 to 260 deg C for steel tips and -30 to 80 deg C for acetal tips.
- Load classes describe different spring-force ranges. They do not describe a rated lifting or structural holding capacity.
Dimensions and selection
Model format is family - metric thread diameter M - stroke S. The original selected-model drawing shows pin diameter d, threaded length l, body length L and drive dimension B. L excludes the protruding pin. The source gives S tolerance +0.5/0 mm and L tolerance 0/-0.5 mm; original metric tolerances apply, and inch values are approximate conversions. Thread pitch is not separately stated in the supplied option sheets and must be matched to the mating thread.
If l=L, the body is fully threaded. If l is shorter than L, the body includes an unthreaded tail section. The source states no thread-locking treatment is applied. Set engagement and contact pressure for the actual fixture; do not bottom or over-compress the pin beyond its specified stroke.
Installation spanners are separate options
The PJG / MT582 tools are separate installation accessories. PJG1 fits M5/M6 plungers; PJG2 M8/M10; PJG3 M12; PJG4 M16; PJG5 M20/M24; PJG6 M30. Tool compatibility does not add M20, M24 or M30 plungers to this listing. Tool envelope dimensions are not supplied; the millimeter/inch values on the spanner cards describe the compatible plunger thread size. Confirm the drive interface before ordering.
Package
A plunger option supplies one plunger, without a spanner. A spanner option supplies one tool, without a plunger. The range photograph shows multiple separate configurations and is not a mixed pack.
Original photographs, force illustration and size drawings
The gallery contains the exact source dimension sheet for every offered plunger option. Representative sheets below cover all 18 supplied thread/stroke combinations and all eight material/load families.
Dimensions and spring forces
All dimensions below are millimeters and forces are newtons. Each force pair is initial force / force at maximum pin compression. The four force classes apply to their matching steel and resin families. Use the exact row rather than assuming the same force for another stroke.
