Applications and Suitable Workpieces

SAOB is an oval 1.5-fold nitrile-rubber bellows cup for dynamic handling of elongated, formed or slightly curved sheet-metal parts. The oval footprint provides useful contact area on long and narrow workpieces, while the bellows compensates for contour and height variation.

Recommended applications

  • Elongated steel and aluminum parts, reinforcing ribs, narrow plates, stamped panels and automotive body components.
  • Thin sheet metal that should be handled without deep drawing or visible deformation.
  • Press-line feeder systems, punching-machine positioning, destacking, loading and unloading, and robotic transfer.
  • Dry or oily sheet-metal surfaces and slightly curved workpieces where a flat oval cup may not adapt sufficiently.

Model and selection notes

  • SAOB60-30, SAOB80-40 and SAOB110-55: choose the oval size according to the available sealing area and required holding force.
  • G1/4 and G3/8 female-thread models: select the thread to match the holder or vacuum connection; workpiece suitability is determined mainly by cup size, surface and load.
  • Best results are obtained on non-porous metal with a continuous sealing path. Sharp edges, perforations, heavy scale or severe curvature require an actual-part test.
  • Final sizing must consider vacuum level, lateral acceleration, workpiece weight, mounting direction and safety factor.
